Abstract

The study aims to explore how the Bolivarian reforms affected the cultural identity of the Tomas district, based on the analysis of the interaction between centralized policies and local practices. It concludes that, despite the drastic changes imposed by the Bolivarian reforms, the community of Tomas managed to maintain and strengthen its cultural traditions, adapting the new laws to their customs, demonstrating a great capacity for resistance and flexibility; this case shows how communities can maintain their cultural identity even in the face of major changes, and highlights the importance of recognizing and valuing cultural diversity.
